## How smoke reaches Milwaukee

Milwaukee sits directly in the path of Canadian smoke riding southeast on northwest winds. Lake Michigan adds a twist: cool onshore air can keep street-level readings surprisingly clean under an orange sky, then an evening wind shift mixes the smoke down to the surface.

That is why SmokeDar reports two numbers for Milwaukee:
